“We wanted to improve our ceiling insulation and that required us to change all our old halogen big bulb down lights. However, having moved into the house a year earlier, we were generally disappointed with the lighting. We had 50 down lights so everything was incredibly bright but completely lacked any atmosphere.
We went to the chain shops but they just wanted to replace basically like with like so whilst we could then insulate above the new lights we would not have created any mood or ambience in our house. One company did ask for our building plan to get the house layout but we didn’t feel we were making any progress.

Our Process.
The lighting plan process has five stages that we have tailored to meet your expectations, and provide an effective and comprehensive service. It is important to keep in mind the amount of work that goes into a lighting plan, so we have broken down the main goals of having a lighting plan created for your build, renovation or project.
Phase One – Consultation
We believe the best results are only obtained when we are on the same page as you are. So, in this phase we will schedule a one to one meeting by appointment with a qualified lighting designer in our showroom. We discuss in depth the goals and needs for your build, renovation, or existing home. We will also discuss how to best use your finances to achieve the lighting effect you want for your home.
To understand your vision for your home, we need the following from you:
- Architectural drawings (if we don’t already have them), including plans, elevations, cross-sections & details
- Your inspirational images and concepts (from magazines, internet searches etc.)
- Colour & finish samples, e.g. wallpaper, tiles, paint
- Images of your site and its outlook
Phase Two – The Design Phase
Following the initial consultation, we collate the information and develop a design specific to you and your project. The lighting design phase includes a preliminary lighting design and a detailed explanation of the lighting present in this plan.
It is important to consider that it can take anywhere from four to eight hours for our lighting designers to develop an initial design, depending on the size and architectural features of the house.
Phase Three – Discussion and Revision
Once the preliminary lighting design is complete, we will book a time for you to sit down with us in our showroom and discuss the design in detail. It is preferred that the consultation takes place in our showroom where we have the ability to demonstrate the selected luminaires. Normally, you will have plenty of questions and feedback during this phase, allowing us to refine the plan according to your needs and goals.
Phase Four – Lighting Guide
Having discussed and viewed any architectural drawings, along with your likes and dislikes and light fittings we have looked at in our showroom, we will put together a Lighting Guide with a selection of light fittings that complement the design.
Phase Five – Quotation
Based on the revised lighting plan, and once light fittings have been selected, we will create a comprehensive pricing schedule and provide you with a detailed, competitive quote.
